The construction of Nieuw Zaailand in the centre of Leeuwarden started in the beginning of 2009. It lead to a complete transformation of the Wilhelminaplein and vicinity. The car park is extended and shops and apartments have been realized.

We have been involved with the preparation of the project since 2007. Our company has executed geotechnical research and issued geotechnical and geohydrological consultancy. We also carried out the geotechnical guidance of the execution of this complex project

To minimise any risks and damage that can occur in an old city centre we also executed an extensive monitoring programme.

For the extension of the car park a new sheet pile had to be created. At the location of the new sheet pile existing mooring anchors had to be drilled through. We carried out magnetometer CPT's to determine the exact locations of the mooring anchors.
